The Cathedral of the Madeleine, Salt Lake City
Tweet This
This is the Cathedral where I was on Ash Wednesday - and on my birthday - this year, as work travel took me to Salt Lake City to visit our corporate headquarters.
It is the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Downtown Salt Lake City, and I just found out this week about what looks to be a fantastic new pictorial history of the cathedral and its relationship and growth with the people of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. I look forward to ordering a copy when they have more in stock.
Check out the 360° panorama of the Cathedral.
Personally, I look forward to getting back to Salt Lake City to worship in this beautiful Cathedral again.

Hey, wow that is so cool! I was actually baptized at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City. My Dad was in the Air Force and we got stationed around the country (and out of the country) quite a bit, so all of my siblings were born in different places. Two of us got baptized at the Cathedral of the Madeleine. (It might have been at the military chapel adjunct to the Cathedral, but the official designation is the “Cathedral of the Madeleine”. That is very cool. I have no memories of the place, so the 360 panorama is a chance for me to experience it! Love the angels on the ceiling. Great find!

That is awesome! I you ever get a chance to visit there, you would most certainly love it. Like I said, I can’t wait to get back there – and I hope to take the family some day too.
The Mass on Ash Wednesday was in the Ordinary Form, mainly in English, but the music was all chanted and polyphony in Latin. The priest was oriented to the people and the choir was behind the altar, behind the choir screen. It was a beautiful mix of old and new in a beautiful place.
Your comment was cool to see… I’m glad you were able to experience a bit of the place through the 360 panorama.
Have a great weekend.

That is a beautiful piece of Architecture!!
I am bookmarking that site for reference.
I am moving in two weeks, so I cannot use the pictures yet.. But, when I get settled into our new house, I will be making a nice rendering of that Cathedral. (I’ll even send you a link to the picture once I complete and upload it!!)
Thank you for sharing.
